Equipment Rental for Students

To assist students in completing their studies during this time Information Technology Services has established a technology loan program. This service is being offered on a first-come, first serve basis and subject to availability of inventory. There is no cost to borrow equipment. 

Laptops

Forgot your laptop at home? Broken laptop? Don't even own a laptop? Did you know that if you need to borrow a laptop, we've got you covered? 

We have a limited inventory of laptops available to students without access to a computer to complete their studies. Students are limited to one laptop, and laptops do not come with specialized software.

Short Term Laptop Rental (Laptop Lending Machines)

A convenient solution for students in need of a computer on-the-go. Available for short-term loans of up to 4 hours (a charger is not included), these machines are located at the North campus 3rd floor LRC and the Lakeshore Campus L Building first floor printer area.

Semester Long Laptop Rental

To rent out a laptop for a semester:

  1. Visit Web Checkout.
  2. Log in with your Humber username and password, and then authenticate with multi-factor authentication (MFA).
  3. On the main page, click on New Reservation.
  4. Select Tech Zone from the Select Center drop-down menu and click OK.
  5. Enter the date you wish to start your reservation. Please note that you will NOT be able to enter the current 
    date. If your request is approved, the end date will change to the end of the semester. This will be confirmed 
    when you pick up the laptop. When you are satisfied with the dates, click on the Add item area.
  6. A catalog window will open. Click Computer to continue.
  7. Click Laptops.
  8. Then click Student-Laptops.
  9. Click Add one of this Type.
  10. You will then see ‘Student-Laptops - 1 in cart’. Click Close to continue.
  11. The page will reload, and you will see a green banner that says, ‘Ready to Save’. Click Save Reservation.

Your request will be sent to Humber’s Information Technology Services and ‘Approval is Pending’ will be shown in the orange banner. If your request is approved, you will receive an email confirmation. The email will provide a link to arrange the pick-up of the laptop. Prior to approval, you can edit or cancel your request by clicking on either of the links in the menu. After approval, you are no longer able to edit the request, but you can still cancel the reservation.

Eligibility & Availability

This service is being offered on a first-come, first serve basis and subject to availability of inventory. There is no cost to borrow equipment. 

To be eligible for this service, students must be verified as enrolled in courses in the current semester. You must also have either a current student card or valid government issued photo identification to borrow equipment.

Terms and Conditions

By signing this agreement, the undersigned (patron) acknowledges:

  • All borrowed equipment was received in good working condition;
  • Equipment borrowed will be returned to North Campus by the specified date and time;
  • Equipment will not leave Canada
  • Late equipment returns may be subject to a fine and/or loss of borrowing privileges;
  • Responsibility for the privacy, backup and removal of one's own data.
  • Humber College will not backup or restore any data once the device is returned.
  • Full financial liability for lost, stolen or damaged equipment.

Late Fees

Overdue equipment loans are subject to a fine*. 

Please notify the I.T. Support Centre if you are unable to return an item on time.
