Software
Can software be download at home for free?
Yes!  Humber has negotiated with many software companies.  The complete list can be found here: https://its.humber.ca/services/services-students/student-software

What about software that I used to work on in the computer labs on campus?
Humber has initiated AppStream.  Many of the programs found in the computer labs on campus can be accessed from the cloud.  Find what programs you can access from your school’s area here:  https://myapps.humber.ca.

I’m not sure how to get started using AppStream.

Can I get a free copy of Microsoft/Office 365?
Yes, you can......starting September 1, 2020, all Humber students will have access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, as well as 1 TB of OneDrive space, simply by going to humber.ca/microsoft365 and logging in with their Humber username and password.  Starting January 2021, all Humber students will also have access to Forms, Planner, Stream, Sway, To-Do, and Whiteboard.  Learn more by visiting https://its.humber.ca/services/services-students/software-licensing-deployment and check out our FAQ page.

Equipment
I don’t have a computer at home to complete my studies.
To assist students in completing their studies during this time Information Technology Services has established a technology loan program.

I need a computer for a few hours.
There are 2 options:

  • Daily Rental:  To borrow one for up to a day, please visit a Tech Zone at H109-North, or R140-Lakeshore. You must be actively enrolled in a course and have an active Humber username to borrow anything. You must also have either a current student card or valid government issued photo identification to borrow equipment.
  • Laptop Lending Machines:  A convenient solution for students in need of a computer on-the-go. Available for short-term loans of up to 4 hours (a charger is not included), these machines are located at the North campus 3rd floor LRC and the Lakeshore Campus L Building first floor printer area.

Can I buy a computer through Humber College?
Yes!  We just entered a partnership with Dell to provide staff and students with computers.  Orders yours today by visiting the Humber's Dell Portal Page.

Can I buy a computer at a discounted price?
Yes!  We just entered a partnership with RCT to provision eligible students, with a financial need, with computers.  Find out more, and fill out an application here.

Microsoft 365
How do I access my student email?
Students may access their Humber email by visiting humber.ca/microsoft365 and logging in using your Humber credentials (username and password).  Note that all users logging into Microsoft products must qualify their username with "@humber.ca" appended to the end (example: n12345678@humber.ca, smith@humber.ca, bcdf1234@humber.ca, etc.) to show their account is linked to Humber. http://humber.ca/microsoft365

Financial Assistance
Does Humber offer any bursaries or financial aid to students?
Yes!  Humber is dedicated to providing you with a number of bursaries to successfully pursue your education while managing your finances. File Storage
How do I access my OneDrive?
Students have access to Microsoft 365, including 1 TB of OneDrive cloud space.  Access your storage on the humber.ca/microsoft365 page and log in with your Humber credentials.  Click on the OneDrive icon, or access all the apps by clicking on the 'waffle', located at the top left of the page.  Learn more about OneDrive on the Microsoft support page.
